BIOGRAPHY OF STEVEN C. GERINGER
Steve Geringer has a total of 21 years experience in
the software business, which include 12 at IBM and 9 years as an
Independent Consultant. Most recently, Geringer held the position of
Director of Planning and Strategy at Knowledge Systems Corporation in
Cary, North Carolina.
Geringer launched his career as a consultant while still attending college. His first client was the State of New York, where he developed the Staff Training Record System.
After completing his B.S. in Computer
Science and Applied Mathematics from the University at Albany (1981),
he accepted a position as a programmer with IBM. During his 12-year
tenure at IBM, he worked in many diverse roles including designer,
developer, development leader, system architect, product planner,
business planner, and competitive market analyst.
In pursuit of a new challenges, Geringer left IBM for the rigors of the
consulting world. After successfully completing a number of customer
engagements, Geringer founded SCG Associates in 1995 to formally launch his technology consultancy.
Geringer has consulted on numerous software projects in a variety of roles for companies such as IBM, MCI, Information Retrieval Companies, Knowledge Systems, Productive Data Systems, and Carolina Power and Light. Throughout his extensive consulting career in the software development arena, Geringer has tackled many technical and management issues for his clients. In the process, he has gathered a wide array of skills and experiences with a particular emphasis in Business Planning and Strategy Development. He brings
over 25 years of experience in software and technology business with a strong expertise in software, product and business planning and strategic marketing.
His breadth of technical and business skills combined with his firsthand knowledge of the numerous companies which he has helped, enable him to play a key role in setting strategic goals and establishing new initiatives to help his clients navigate the volatile technology business.
